The Bernina line of the World Heritage Rhaetian Railway goes from St. Moritz to Tirano, Italy.

I took the train from Pontoresina to Tirano. The highest station on the way, Ospizio Bernina, is also the starting point of the popular hiking trail between Ospizio Bernina and Alp Grum along the Bernina route. Surrounded by mountains, Lago Bianco (Lake Bianco) is a beautiful milky-white lake, but when we visited, it was in a state of drought due to low rainfall. Deciding to get off the train on the way back,

I headed for Tirano, passing the 120-year-old Brusio Bridge (a famous stone bridge with a 360-degree loop that is unique in the world) on the way, and arrived at Tirano Station in Italy. After a short walk around the city until noon, I found an Italian pizza place near the station and had pizza and beer for lunch. Since prices are high in Switzerland, lunch in Italy seemed very inexpensive. This pizza place (Leti) is cheap, tasty, and highly recommended. A margarita was 8 euros, about half the price in Switzerland, and it was big enough for one person (about 30 cm). I was very full. After returning home,

I checked Tripadvisor and found that the restaurant had a rating of 5. After the meal, I took the train to Ospizio Bernina station, walked around the area, and returned to the hostel.

Hiking distance:5.2 Km
