I used the one-day pass to visit places I had looked up online the day before while sightseeing in Munich. Munich's buses and trams are well maintained and run frequently, making it easy to get to anywhere. The trams in particular were very comfortable.

We took a bus from the bus stop in front of the YouthHostel to the venue near Oktoberfest, which is held every autumn, and then took a walk from there.

<Sightseeing List>

  • Oktoberfest venue

    A vast park where Oktoberfest is held.

    ◦Finally found a portable toilet (a godsend!) On the way, I needed to go to the toilet but couldn't find one, so I headed for the subway station.On the way, I found a simple toilet and escaped the predicament.

  • Hofgarten (Imperial Gardens), Residence, Odeonsplatz, German Theatre Museum, Nymph Fountain

  • Englischer Garten (English Garden ), including a Japanese tea room , and the Bavarian State Museum

  • Luitpold Bridge (Prinzregentenbrücke), River Isar and Angel of Peace

  • Maximilianeum, Patron Goddess Pallas Athena, Erhard Fountain, Max Monument, Museum of Five Continents

Munich is full of things to see, probably because of its history. Most of the sights are concentrated in a small area, which must have meant that it was once surrounded by a city wall.

On the way, I needed to go to the toilet, but couldn't find one, so I headed for the subway station, where I found a simple toilet along the way and escaped the predicament. I was hungry, so I went back to the hotel, bought some ingredients at a nearby supermarket, cooked some food, and ate until I was full.

I had a little time, so I decided to go to Nymphenburg Castle. Google Maps is a very useful tool. Just tap on the destination and search for a route, and the latest transportation suggestions will appear.

On the way back, we took the bus to a souvenir shop near Munich Station, bought some souvenirs, and then got back on the bus to go back to the hotel.

The hotel here is similar in design to the share house I currently live in in Japan, and I think it is a cheap and convenient place to stay for me. However, the supermarket is a bit far away, which is a bit of a problem.

summary

  • Don't underestimate sightseeing in Munich, it turns out there is so much to see.
