[October 26th]

Today, we changed our plans and went sightseeing in the city. It's obvious if you look at the tracker, but it's at a reduced scale so it's hard to see unless you click to enlarge.

I went from YOUTH hostel to the city center to check the tour bus stop for tomorrow. The tour company I first visited was wrong. The staff there gave me directions, and I checked with the panoramic bus tour company I had researched beforehand. I made a reservation for tomorrow with the bus tour company. Today's trip was short, so I should have left earlier, but I was glad I was able to make a reservation for tomorrow just in time.

From there, we followed the route we had researched in advance and focused on sightseeing, focusing on the filming locations of The Sound of Music.

A marathon was being held in the square.

  • Maria and the children sing Do-Re-Mi at Mirabell Park

  • Felsenreitschule Concert Hall

  • The exterior of the choir competition before the Trapp family's escape over the mountains.

Inside ➥

  • St. Peter's Abbey Cemetery

A cemetery to hide in after a concert

  • It shows Maria leaving the convent to go to her tutoring class, but in reality it is the back entrance to the Museum of Contemporary Art on the hill. Parts have been renovated since then. The first two photos were taken by a staff member who happened to be visiting from Japan to take photos, and he climbed up the cliff railing to take the photos. I'm afraid of heights, so I can't do that.

  • The Colonel tells Maria to return to the convent, but the children ask her

  • This fountain is the scene where Maria splashes water from the Pegasus fountain on her way to her tutoring class.

  • Mozart Bridge, used in the scene where Maria and her children go on a picnic

Other photo books

After touring the area, we stopped at a supermarket to buy dinner and breakfast before returning to the youth hostel.

It's Sunday, so the supermarkets and shops are closed.

A new Korean had come to share my room at YouthHostel.
